At Fortify, we guide our community on their individual health journeys and as such, showing up for work energized, in good health, and with a strength to put your best foot forward is needed to support our guests. We have a vibrant, active workplace and all team members should feel confident and comfortable that guests focus will be on the work and offerings and not on our appearance.
The way we show up to work can make a difference in the output of this message and with this knowledge,
all employees will report to work with a clean, professional appearance, as well as reaching the following criteria;
Hygiene:
Hair should be clean and styled in a way that is suitable to the element we represent
Faces should be representative of who we are as individuals. You were chosen to be a part of the Fortify team for the amazing qualities you hold, please represent who you are with respect to the work we do at Fortify
Nails/toenails:
Nails are to be kept short and clean of debris. If you choose to wear polish, it must be kept in good repair with no chipping, flaking or with adornments that could potentially fall off into a food or beverage item.
Toenails must meet the above health guidelines when wearing a shoe that is open-toed.
Clothing:
Tops - Cap sleeve in a way that encloses the armpit area, covers the midriff and chest area considering the activities of your role, reaching, bending, and moving. Shirts with affiliate logos, offensive language, swear words, or nudity are not permitted. Any offensive tattoos are to be covered with appropriate clothing.
Bottoms - Pants, shorts, and skirts must be at the very least 3 inches away from the knee cap. Fabrics can move in very different ways, so keep in mind the movements particular to your job and how the fabric will move and flow to keep its shape to the previous described restriction of 3 inches. If wearing jeans they must be in good repair, without holes or fashionable tearing on the leg section.
Footwear - Shoes should be kept in good repair, no holes, scratches, or stains. They should also be simple to clean so that their appearance is easily maintained. Due to Workplace Safety Standards and Manitoba Health Code Policies, open-toed shoes can only be worn in Fortify Wellness, and at the discretion of management. Open-toed shoes must never be worn in Fortify Foods, and with the following guideline, anyone who steps foot in Fortify Foods cannot be in an open-toed shoe.
Shoes worn in Fortify Wellness should not cause loud or “noisy” footfalls, so as to be cohesive with the sensitive and calm environment. Noise travels through the halls and rooms, so we recommend a flat shoe or soft boxed heel. If you are ever in doubt, please bring a spare pair of flats to work upon testing out the heeled shoe for noise, and check with management if further questions arise.
Fragrance- At Fortify we make every effort to be a fragrance-free workplace. Thank you for not wearing any of the following during your shifts: cologne, aftershave lotion, perfume, perfumed hand lotion, fragranced hair products, and/or similar products. Our chemically-sensitive co-workers and clients thank you.
