Vacations
Introductsenc
At Fortify, we recognize the importance of vacation time for our employees’ personal and professional well-being and encourage our employees to take full advantage of their well-deserved time off. We believe that time off helps our employees to come back to work renewed and refreshed, with the potential to boost productivity and help us on our innovation journey.
Eligibility
This policy applies to all permanent full-time and part-time (hourly and salary) employees, and fixed temporary employees.
This policy does not apply to Agency help and invoice contractors.
Your Vacation Policy
Vacation time is paid on each payday as 4% of gross wages as per Employment Standards. The Company believes strongly in mental health, healing oneself as well as others. The Employee shall be entitled to vacations in the amount of 2 weeks per annum. The Employee is eligible for vacation once they have completed one year (1 year) of work for the Employer.
**If practitioners require time off in the first year, “make-up” days must be scheduled either before the days booked off or afterwards to accommodate the needs of the business and patients appointments.
Process
Employees must request vacation in advance and it must be approved by their Team Leader/supervisor
The times and dates for any vacation will be determined by mutual agreement between the Employer and the Employee.
The Employee is encouraged to give two (2) weeks’ advance notice of time away under one (1) week away. If the time away will exceed one (1) week, one (1) month’s notice is required.
As much as possible, the rescheduling of clients should be minimized.
Practitioner process
As much as possible we try to eliminate the possibility of more than one practitioner being on leave at any given time. To prevent this, practitioners submit their leave for the following year starting in October. Vacation and leave requests can be submitted through Homebase. Many reminders will go out to ensure adequate notice.
Public Holidays
All Fortify employees are eligible for provincially legislated public holidays and public holiday pay.
Every effort is made to respect the religious beliefs of all employees. If your religious holidays are not included as provincially legislated public holidays and you wish to be absent on that day, notify your Team Leader. You may make a written request for approval from your Team Leader at least two (2) weeks in advance of the requested time off. Your Team Leader will consider your request and will make every reasonable attempt to accommodate your request for time off.
Where provincial legislation allows, Fortify will continue to operate on days and at times that are most convenient to our customers. As such, you may be required to work on public holidays. When working on public holidays, you will be paid in accordance with the relevant provincial legislation.

Leaves of Absence
At Fortify we understand that you will experience planned or unplanned personal events that will require you to take time away from work. We are here to support you with job-protected leaves that meet the legislated requirements. Depending on the situation, time away from work could be paid or unpaid. Some unpaid leaves may also be eligible for Employment Insurance (EI) Benefits.
Should you require a leave of absence, or require more information regarding leaves, please speak directly with your Team Leader/Supervisor. You can ask your Team Leader to provide you with policy regarding the different leaves available to you. Leaves can include but not limited to:
Bereavement, Family Medical/Compassionate Care Leave, Jury Duty, Emergency Leave, Maternity/Parental Leave.
