Harassment Policy
Fortify is committed to providing a work environment in which all individuals are treated with dignity and respect. The objective of this standard is to ensure that all employees of Fortify are aware that harassment and discrimination are unacceptable practices that are incompatible with the standards and values of this organization. Harassment and discrimination are also a violation of law.
Discrimination can be defined as any form of unequal treatment based on the difference between individuals or groups; it may involve direct actions that are blatantly discriminatory, or in direct actions that have the effect of disadvantaging certain groups of people.
Harassment on the other hand, means any unwanted conduct that is known or ought reasonably to be known to be unwelcome. Harassment includes making racially derogatory comments, unwelcome comments on a person’s sex life or body, and unwanted physical contact. Sexual harassment can include unwelcome sexual advances, soliciting sex from a co-worker, and the threat of reprisal for rejection of sexual advances.
Fortify will not tolerate harassment of, or by, employers, employees, customers, contractors, or vendors. Such behaviour will result in corrective action up to and including termination of employment. If necessary Fortify will empower and/or assist employees in filing a formal complaint with an independent investigator.
Anyone subjected to harassment should record the details of the behaviour, make the harasser aware, and follow the complaint procedure. Anyone who witnesses harassment should encourage the employee to use the complaint procedure.
