Employee Status
Fortify has different employment statuses to provide for a flexible work environment and to assist in meeting the needs of employees and our business. The two (2) employment statuses at Fortify are Full-Time and Part-Time. Employee benefits, work hours, and other factors may differ by employee status. Please refer to your letter of offer and/or Employment Agreement to determine your employee status.
Work Hours
The number of hours you are scheduled to work will fluctuate based on business needs. You are expected to be dressed and ready for work, as per the “Dress Code Policy” at the start of your shift.
There may be times, depending on business needs, when your scheduled shift will be shortened or the request may be made for you to stay past your scheduled end time. When you are scheduled for a team meeting, you will be paid for the duration of the meeting.
Attendance and Punctuality
Regular attendance is essential for the smooth operation of the store and demonstrates respect for your fellow team members. Adhering to your assigned work schedule is very important and can impact your personal productivity and your team’s, as well as the customer service experience. Your attendance and punctuality record is a factor in your overall job performance and is a consideration in many employment decisions. Fortify expects all employees to be punctual and present for all scheduled shifts.
To be on time, prepared for your shift start time, and in a positive and calm state of mind, we advise arriving 10 minutes earlier than your scheduled shift. This will give you the time to greet your fellow team members, put your outdoor coat and shoes away at the back of Fortify Wellness, start a water or beverage, and be fully ready to function at your most optimal self.
If you are unable to report to work on time for your scheduled shift, you must call your Team Leader or Supervisor a minimum of three (3) hours prior to the start of your scheduled shift. Notification of an absence or lateness to your Team Leader or Supervisor through voice mail, email, Slack Message or text messaging is not permitted.
It is the responsibility of the employee to find a suitable replacement to work their scheduled shift. In the case where you may feel unfit for work, please notify management as soon as possible so we may aid in the search for a replacement to create coverage for the business to operate normally. If you were able to find a suitable replacement, please verify the coverage is appropriate with your manager as far in advance of your scheduled start time as possible.
If you are medically absent for more than one (1) shift over a period of three (3) consecutive work days, then you are required to provide your Team Leader/Supervisor with a medical note to justify the absence and to confirm that you are fit to return to work. Your Team Leader/Supervisor can ask for a medical note related to an absence at any time.
Employees with ongoing attendance or punctuality issues will be subject to corrective action which may include termination of employment.
Any unreported or unexcused absences of three (3) consecutive scheduled shifts will be considered as a voluntary resignation. As such, your employment may be terminated for job abandonment.
